Languages United mira a essere socialmente responsabile e a aiutare la comunità globale e locale.
Siamo consapevoli dei cambiamenti climatici e della necessità che ognuno faccia la sua parte.
Stiamo agendo, in quanto organizzazione, e incoraggiamo i nostri studenti a fare lo stesso.
Il nostro ambiente
La scuola ha intrapreso una serie di provvedimenti per ridurre il suo impatto ambientale:
Riduciamo l'uso della carta prediligendo il formato elettronico per i libri e i programmi scolastici degli studenti.
Riduciamo l'uso della carta in classe usando aule virtuali per dare agli studenti risorse e compiti.
Ci stiamo mobilitando verso un ufficio completamente senza carta.
Facciamo la raccolta differenziata.
Utilizziamo tazze multiuso per le bevande anziché bicchieri di plastica.
Chiediamo agli studenti di portare le loro bottiglie riciclabili per ridurre il consumo di plastica. Ci impegniamo a promuovere l'app Refill così che gli studenti possano riempire le loro borracce quando sono fuori.
Al momento stiamo portando avanti un progetto per misurare e ridurre la nostra impronta ecologica.

Imparare la responsabilità sociale
Nelle nostre lezioni incoraggiamo gli studenti a fare pratica con l'inglese discutendo argomenti e problemi di attualità, e osservando il mondo intorno a loro.
Ci auguriamo che gli studenti inizino a pensare a loro stessi come a dei cittadini del mondo, avendo cura dell'ambiente e delle altre persone che lo abitano.
Continuando i temi delle nostre lezioni, gli studenti prendono parte a progetti che li coinvolgano nella comunità locale.
2019 Clean Air Day
2019 - 20th June was Clean Air Day and the school offset the CO2 emissions from students' flights by planting trees.
2019 40 for 40
2019 - 40 for 40 campaign: students and staff collect clothing to be donated to the Save the Children charity.
2018 Bath Half
2018 - The school sponsored one of its students who ran the Bath Half to raise money for the Julian House homeless charity.
2016 Lessons for refugees
2016-2018 - Languages United provides English lessons for refugees from Syria.
2017 - Wear it Pink
2017 - Student wore pink clothes for "Wear It Pink Day", raising money for the breast cancer research charity.
2016 - Shockerwick House
2016 - Students gave a presentation on their own country to the residents at Shockerwick House, a care home for the elderly. After giving their presentations they had tea together, and the students planted flowers in the garden [click to view video].
2015 - Bake Off
2015 - Bake Off Competitions - students made cakes with their hosts and sold them to raise money for Red Nose Day and Forever Friends [click to view video].
2014 - Forever Friends
2014 - Students and staff raised money for the Forever Friends appeal, dressing up on Ted's Big Day Out with "Wacky Funky Footwear".
2014 - Pizza making
2014 - Students were taught how to make cupcakes and pizzas at an Italian restaurant, which they then distributed them to the homeless with the help of a local charity.
2014 - RUH
2014 - Students learnt to make cranes, a symbol of hope, using origami. They raised funds for the children's ward at the Royal United Hospital and presented one thousand cranes and funds raised.
2013 - Genesis Trust
2013 - Students make cakes and sell them to raise money for Genesis Trust, who support the homeless in Bath.
