Languages United’s students took part by not only wearing pink but also by fundraising for the whole day. Our students baked delicious cakes with their host families and sold them to staff and the wider community by approaching local businesses. Prior to this, our students were put into groups to set up a business plan, where they discussed selling techniques and pricing to establish how much they were going to charge for their cakes to raise as much money as possible. The school matched the money raised by the winning team.
As a fundraiser bonus, we set up a “Bake Off” style competition where staff judged the cakes (please note that we stuck with the original Bake-off judges). The winner - Mona - won a prize, a box pink chocolates to share with her host family who made this baking possible.
The fundraising carried on into the evening where our students took part in a karaoke fundraiser at the Slug and Lettuce. So far, our students have raised a total of £363.50! This is still subject to change by the end of today as we’re still fundraising.
We believe it is so important to make our students socially responsible by contributing to the community. This was exercised through the students fundraising tasks and making them aware of charities like Breast Cancer Now.
