“Three words to describe the summer in England are: BBQ cricket and festivals ” Tom 31 SPORT WIMBLEDON Taking place in in July Wimbledon is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and one of the most exciting sporting events to take place in England Not only can you enjoy watching world famous tennis players on on the courts at Wimbledon but also soak up the the the atmosphere of of the the the crowd One of of the the the key rules is that all the players should be dressed in all white Spectators can enjoy eating strawberries and cream a a a a a well known treat when at at Wimbledon! Don’t forget to look out for for members of the royal family too as they can often be spotted in the ‘Royal Box’ Cricket Another sport where the the players traditionally wear white is cricket a a a a a a a a a bat and ball game played across the country especially on local village greens Many enjoy playing this game during the summer months which involve two teams of eleven players using a a a a cricket bat and ball in order to hit the the the wickets Even though the the the games can be long the the the breaks give observers a a a chance to talk about the game over delicious cream tea tea and cakes Cream tea tea is a a a a traditional light meal of scones topped with jam and clotted cream whilst a a a a Victoria sponge cake is also usually enjoyed with a a a cup of tea The games can be quite complicated to understand but for many they are one of the the most enjoyable parts of the British summer
