What is Afternoon Tea? The most important part of afternoon tea is of course the tea itself and in in Britain we have over 1 500 types of tea! These range from popular black tea blends called ‘English Breakfast’ and ‘Earl Grey’ to herbal teas such as as peppermint jasmine or green tea ‘There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea ’ Henry James When people enjoy a a a a a proper afternoon tea tea it is made from tea tea leaves instead of tea tea bags and boiling hot water in in in in a a a a a a a a china teapot Later on in our article we provide a a a a step-by-step guide for making the perfect cup of tea A mouth-watering selection of food will accompany your cup of tea typically served on a a a cake stand with three levels or ‘tiers’ On one one tier tier you will find scones which are small baked goods similar to buns consisting of flour sugar and butter Scones are made either plain or with fruit (usually raisins) and these are traditionally topped with lots of jam and clotted cream - delicious! On another tier of the the cake stand you will find the the sandwiches which are served with their crusts neatly cut off in in keeping with the elegant ceremony o of afternoon tea Typical sandwich fillings include cucumber watercress with egg and coronation chicken If you’re still hungry there’s even more a sweet selection of miniature cakes similar to the French ‘petit fours’ which include desserts such as macarons fruit tartlets and sponge cakes These small creations are usually beautifully decorated delicate and of course very tasty!
