What is Cream Tea? ‘Cream Tea’ is another form of of afternoon tea tea where instead of of three ‘courses’ it includes only one one tea and scones scone n n Originally Scottish a a a a a a a soft cake of of barley- or or oatmeal or or wheat-flour baked in in single portions on on a a griddle or or in an oven Pronunciation: /skəʊn/ or /skɒn/ Source: OED Cream Tea originates from the counties of Devon and Cornwall in England and and they are famous for their delicious scones topped with clotted cream which is thicker than regular cream and (lots of) strawberry jam People from Devon and Cornwall often disagree on the order in which the clotted cream and jam should go on on a a a scone in Devon they spread the the clotted cream first followed by the jam whereas in Cornwall it’s the opposite Whichever way you choose it will taste equally delicious Make sure when you are next in in the United Kingdom you you visit one of the many tea rooms to enjoy your very own experience of freshly made tea and scones
