PCTO (Pathways for Transversal Skills and Orientation)

Q: What is the PCTO?

The PCTO (Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento) programme is designed for Italian upper secondary school students to help them apply what they’ve learnt in the classroom to real-world situations, enriching their education, improving employability, developing life skills and guiding their future paths.

Q: Why should English teachers choose Languages United's PCTO course in Bath for their students?

English teachers should choose this programme because it not only improves language skills but also equips students with essential work-based skills. The English lessons focus on practical areas like CV writing, interview preparation, and teamwork, making students better prepared for the workplace.

Q: How does the PCTO course help students gain practical experience?

Our course is designed to give students hands-on experience. They will take part in project-based learning, including a Dragon's Den-style competition where they pitch their ideas, and conduct interviews with local businesses. These activities help students apply their classroom learning in practical ways, developing their confidence and skills.

Q: Where will students stay during the PCTO course?

Students will stay in homestay accommodation, giving them a safe and immersive experience of British life. This helps students practise their English in everyday situations and experience the local culture first-hand, which is a valuable part of their learning.

Q: How does the PCTO course support the overall development of students?

The programme supports students’ overall development by combining academic learning with cultural and practical experiences. It builds confidence, improves communication skills, and helps students understand the world around them. This well-rounded approach prepares them for both further education and future careers.
