Week 6 of 6 : today, we learn about the Past Continuous tense.

Hello and welcome to languages United grammar point of the week. Today we're going to be looking at the past continuous.

We use the past continuous to describe an action in progress at a specific time in the past so for example:

Yes, I was watching the football match at six o'clock last night.

As we can see, the past continuous is made with an auxiliary verb which is was or were and the verb in the ing form. If we have a look at the timeline, we can see the specific time in the past which is six

o'clock and i was watching football is an action in progress at that time. So to recap, the past continuous is used to describe an action in progress at a specific time in the past. It's made using was or were and the verb in ing form.
